Aspire provides younger students with an engaging introduction to real-world, project-based learning. During their weekly Aspire sessions, students work collaboratively to investigate questions, develop ideas, design solutions and reflect on what they have learned.
Every Thursday, I spend two hours taking part in the Aspire program. Aspire helps me connect my learning to the real world while developing my design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
This term, I’m working on a project called Paddock to Plate, where I’m learning about how food is grown, harvested, transported, and ends up on our plates.
The Aspire program gives students a strong foundation before they move on to the year five/six QUEST program. It encourages curiosity, independence, and a love of learning, while helping students make meaningful connections between what they learn at school and the world around them. By the time they begin QUEST, students are ready to take on more complex projects with confidence.
I like Aspire because we get to work together and solve real-world problems. Paddock to Plate has taught me where my food comes from. I enjoy Aspire because the activities are fun and hands-on. My favorite part is probably the time we get to visit a farm.
The Aspire program gives students the opportunity to explore a range of real-world industries and careers they may not have considered before. Experiences like visiting a farm can spark new interests and help students discover future career pathways. Aspire has helped me become better at working with others and sharing my ideas. Aspire has helped me think more creatively and solve problems in different ways.
