Device Responsibility and Safe Content Access

Our goal is to empower students to use sound online safety habits at home and school.

Transcript

When students are given the one-to-one iPad in Year 6, they follow an agreement where we discuss how to be safe online, a do’s and don’ts when using online tools and sharing information.

When students agree to the digital agreement for their iPads, they go through the rules about how to be safe online, what information they can and can’t share, and how to use the devices correctly.

At Larrakeyah Primary School, we use the NT School’s Proxy Network. Basically, what this allows the students to do is surf the internet safely. We do this in two ways. We have a blocked network and an unblocked network. Anything on the blocked network that kids cannot use. Anything on the unblocked network allows the kids to safely browse the internet as it’s been checked and secured by the NT Government.

Students learn how to use their iPad safely and take that skill home with them where they can use their digital devices to search the web correctly, share information correctly, and viewed and utilise tools on the internet.
