The Aspire program extends this real-world approach across the early years, offering students authentic opportunities to explore community needs and global issues.
In Term 3, students have the opportunity to experience a hands-on engaging program called Aspire, where their ideas and voices genuinely matter. They work collaboratively on real world problems that are relevant to both their local community and global challenges. For each stage of the design thinking process, students take the lead in their learning journey.
I get to learn about different things in inquiry, and I get to learn about different jobs and it helps me be a good team member.
Aspire’s unique benefit lies in its authenticity and connection to real world impact. Unlike traditional classroom projects, Aspire tasks are grounded in real community needs and global issues, and guided by industry professionals.
Last year I made dumplings. It was so yummy and I liked eating them. I liked doing teamwork
and I like solving problems. We made some shirts in little groups. It was really fun. My favourite thing about making the shirts was that we get to stick little pictures of different countries on the shirt. The interdisciplinary nature of the program enables them to connect knowledge across subject areas in meaningful ways, promoting, deeper understanding and relevance.
It made learning fun and it made me learn about different cultures. Above all, students leave the program with a strong sense of agency and civic responsibility, qualities that are essential in today’s fast changing world.
