For those who remained in Darwin, the non-Singapore study tour provided an equally engaging program. Students explored Asian cultures through hands-on activities such as designing and 3D printing luggage tags, making terrariums, and cooking dishes including Hainanese chicken rice and rice paper rolls.
Hi everyone, my name is Anika Harris and in week eight I had the pleasure of running our non Singapore camp here in Darwin, and it was such a special experience. Our focus was on exploring Asia, its cultures, traditions, and food, and looking at the strong connections that it has with Australia, especially within our community here in Darwin.
One of my favorite highlights was learning how to create 3D print designs on Makers Empire. It was really fun to see my ideas come to life and then actually hold something I’ve designed. I also loved making the Vietnamese rice paper rolls. They were delicious and I enjoyed learning how to roll them properly.
We made terrariums and cooked some delicious food like Hainan chicken rice and rice paper rolls.
We also had some wonderful outings. We went to the Chung Wah Chinese Museum. We went to Chow restaurant and we also went to Territory Wildlife Park.
Another big highlight for me was our trip to Darwin wave pool. It was such a fun way to spend time with my friends after a busy week of activities.
Each visit gave us a chance to learn something new while also having a lot of fun together.
And it was really nice seeing lots of smiles going around. Overall, it was such a fantastic week. The students were enthusiastic, they showed a lot of curiosity and they were very supportive of each other across the activities as well, which was really nice to see.
The week was really great because I not only got to try lots of new things, but I also learned more about Asian cultures.
I wanna thank all the families for supporting all of the students and allowing this to happen.
